Plain text of Book 15, Hymn 3
1 For a whole year he stood erect. The angels said unto him, Why do you stand, O devotee? 2 He answered and said, Let them bring my couch. 3 They brought the couch for that devotee. 4 Two of its feet were summer and spring, and two were autumn and the rains. 5 The two long boards were the great hymns; the two cross-boards were the hymns of worship. 6 Holy verses were the strings lengthwise, and prayer formulas the cross-tapes. 7 Sacred lore was the blanket, devotion the coverlet. 8 The chanted song was the cushion, and chanting the bolster. 9 The devotee ascended that couch. 10 The hosts of angels were his attendants, solemn vows his messengers, and all creatures his well-wishers. 11 All creatures become well-wishers of him who possesses this knowledge.
