Plain text of Hymn 4

For length of life, for mighty joy, uninjured, ever showing strength, we wear, by God's leave, the antidote of racking pain, the herb Jangida.

Herb of a thousand powers, may Jangida save us all around from Jambha, and from Visara, from racking pain, and tormenting pain.

This overcomes racking pain, this chases the greedy fiends away: may this our panacea, may Jangida save us from distress.

With the remedy that brings delight, the gift of God, we in the conflict overcome racking pain and all fierce fiends.

May Jangida preserve me from racking pain,--that brought to us from the forest, this sprung from the saps of husbandry.

This herb destroys the might of magic and malignity: so may victorious Jangida prolong the years we have to live.
