Plain text of Book 4, Hymn 29
1 Thee, O God the Friend and the All-Seeing, I honour, Strengthener of law, wise, who drivest away oppressors.
Thou who protectest the truthful in his battles, deliver us from grief and trouble.
2 Thou the Wise, who drivest away oppressors, who protectest the truthful in his battles,
Who comest as guard of men, deliver us from grief and trouble.
3 O God the Friend and the All-Seeing, who helped Agasti, Atri, and Angiras, and Jamadagni,
Thou who helped Kasyapa, who helped Vasishtha, deliver us from grief and trouble.
4 Thou who helped Syavasva, Atri, and Purumilha, and Vadhryasva,
Thou who helped Vimada and Saptavadhri, deliver us from grief and trouble.
5 Thou who gavest aid to Kutsa, Gavishthira, Bharadvaja, Visvamitra,
Who helped Kakshivan and gavest aid to Kanva, deliver us from grief and trouble.
6 Thou who helped Trisoka, Medhatithi, and Usana son of Kavi,
Protector of Gotama and Mudgala, deliver us from grief and trouble.
7 Whose straight-reined car that keeps the track of goodness assails and ruins him who walks perversely—
I, suppliant, praise with constant invocation God the Friend and the All-Seeing. Save us from affliction.
