Plain text of Book 4, Hymn 28
1 I reverence Thee, O God—mark this—the Producer and the Destroyer, under whose control is this that shineth,
Lord of this world both quadruped and biped. Deliver us from grief and trouble.
2 Lord of all near and even of what is distant,
Lord of this world both quadruped and biped, deliver us from grief and trouble.
3 All-seeing, Destroyer of foes, I invoke Thee, still praising Thee the strong, of wide dominion:
Lord of this world both quadruped and biped, deliver us from grief and trouble.
4 Thou who of old wroughtest many a deed, and showedst among mankind warnings;
Lord of this world both quadruped and biped, deliver us from grief and trouble.
5 From whose decree not one among angels or men escapeth,
Lord of this world both quadruped and biped, deliver us from grief and trouble.
6 Hurl Thy bolt, O Strong One, at the sorcerer, him who makes ready roots and deals in magic:
Lord of this world both quadruped and biped, deliver us from grief and trouble.
7 Comfort and aid us, O Strong One, in battles, against each evil-doer send Thy bolt of thunder.
I, suppliant, praise and ever call on Thee. Set us free from grief and trouble.
