Plain text of Book 4, Hymn 26
1 O God, I think on Thy heaven and earth, wise, givers of abundant gifts by Thy command, which through measureless expanses Thou hast spread forth.
For they are seats and homes of goodly treasures. Deliver us from grief and trouble.
2 Yea, seats and homes are they of goodly treasures, grown strong, blessed, and far-extending.
Be Thou auspicious to me. Deliver us from grief and trouble.
3 I call on Thee who warmest and causest no sorrow, deep, spacious, meet to be adored by poets.
Be Thou auspicious to me. Deliver us from grief and trouble.
4 By Thy command heaven and earth maintain the life-giving rain and worship, support rivers and human beings.
Be Thou auspicious to me. Deliver us from grief and trouble.
5 By Thy command cows and forest trees are cherished, within Thy range all creatures are included.
Be Thou auspicious to me. Deliver us from grief and trouble.
6 Thou who delightest in giving, without whom men have no strength or power,
Be Thou auspicious to me. Deliver us from grief and trouble.
7 The grief that pains me here, whoever caused it, not sent by fate, hath sprung from human action.
I, suppliant, praise Thee, Creator of heaven and earth, and oft invoke Thee. Deliver us from grief and trouble.
